"You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost it's taste, how can it's saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot." Matthew 5:13.

(11/2/2024) “Should a father have been concerned that his daughter was sharing a dormitory with a transgender woman?” This question came up at morning tea. The answer is YES.  It has been reported that when a father discovered his daughter would be sharing a dorm with a male student – who identified as female – he drove from interstate to Victoria to remove her from the school. I make 5 points – 1. The father should certainly have been concerned. His biological daughter was sharing a dormitory with a biological male. A newspaper said the father went to “extreme lengths” to remove his daughter. The father’s action was not extreme, it was normal. 2. A parent has a right to choose whatever private school they wish their child to attend. In our democracy, with freedom of choice, a parent has a right to choose whatever school they wish for their children. Also, whatever the concern a parent has, a school needs to be willing to listen. 3. A male is different to a female; you only have to consider how we are designed. There are people who are gender benders; this idea says that sexual identity is fluid, or even neutral. At the time of a baby’s birth, the nurse will sometimes declare “It’s a boy!” or “It’s a girl!” Celebrating male and female is what makes us human. "Male and female He created them." Genesis 1:27. 4. The gender-neutral movement will have consequences; such as mixed toilets, genderless sports, no mention of gender on job applications, gender neutral baby names, no women’s and men’s sections in department stores. 5. The parents of the students in the dormitory should have been notified of the situation. It seems some were not, including the father. The school does consider the privacy and welfare of students, and makes sure they are heard, respected and kept safe. And this situation needed good pastoral communication.

(11/2/2024) The question came up at morning tea in January - "Should Woolworths and Kmart and other businesses have stopped selling Australia Day merchandise?" The big business, with others, had decided not to sell the merchandise, because they say low sales do not warrant the stocking, and the Day is not as popular as it was. I offer 5 points - 1. Are Woolworths and others going "woke"? (Wokeworths). Let's hope the decision is not an attempt to impose woke ideology and to cancel our national day by stealth. Unelected corporate elites must not dictate what should happen in this country. 2. They had a moral obligation to sell it. They are an Australian retail chain, they make profits in Australia, all employees are Aussie, customers respect Woolworths. So they need to be a role model, and support Australia Day, and encourage others to do the same. 3. However, in our democracy, with free enterprise, private businesses can make their own choice on what to sell. If they decide not to stock it they don't have to. 4. Government, or anybody, cannot dictate what free enterprise sells. Free enterprise is supply and demand. It works very well without government interference. If a stick is thrown into the supply and demand wheel, it causes huge problems. We have seen this with coal power stations being forced to close and government imposing renewable energy. 5. We need Australia Day, it makes sense; we are Australian. We celebrate our wonderful nation, its achievements, that we are multi racial, successful, and most of all we celebrate our people. The majority of Australians want Australia Day. We must stand up and fight for it.

(24/12/2023) The World Health Organisation is seeking to finalise the International Treaty on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response. It is a world rule on pandemics, such as Covid, where the WHO will dictate nations responses on lockdowns, vaccinations, and border controls. I offer these 5 points -
1. This proposal seems like another step toward a world government. One organisation ruling the world. One individual with power over the world, is dangerous. 2. Nations must retain their independence. We don’t want "worldism," we want to retain "nationalism." Each nation must be able to make its own decisions, and only follow a collective rule if it thinks its right to do so. 3. It could give power to pharmaceutical companies. The WHO could be influenced by greedy companies. 4. Unelected global health bureaucrats should not have control over our public health policies. 5. During a pandemic, the WHO should give expert health advice, not give expert health orders. Nations must be free to determine their own response, after receiving the advice.

(24/9/2023) I have been asked a lot lately about the ABORIGINAL VOICE TO PARLIAMENT. We will vote on this on Saturday the 14th of October. To guide your thoughts and responses to this, I have included these comments from last year - updated -

Should we have an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander "Voice" sitting in parliament? This question came up at morning tea. I make these six comments - 1. Our indigenous communities must be served and helped as much as possible. Our indigenous people are made in the image of God, as we all are, and must be loved, prayed for, and recognised whenever we can. 2. The best indigenous Voice to parliament is provided by the indigenous people who are elected to Parliament under our current system.  Our system of The House of Representatives and the Senate, elected by the people to work for the people, is the best democratic system there is. It is better to have a “voice” IN parliament, rather than a “voice” TO parliament. 3. It is race based. Over the last 50 years, we have come a long way in reducing racism, and the more we promote that we are all one is for the better. 4. It could lead to "apartheid." Apartheid means "separateness" or the "state of being apart." This is a bad situation and has been experienced in many countries. 5. A referendum would be harmful. If it is defeated it will be seen as a divisive moment for our country, and if it succeeds, we will have identity politics right in the heart of our constitution. 6. In this nation we are “one.” Our national Anthem now says so. Our successful nation consists of Indigenous people, those with a British heritage, and those who have immigrated.

Here is a scripture verse for our thoughts. Jesus said "Every Kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand."

(27/8/2023) Victoria has banned gas in new homes from 2024. Now this week the Sydney City Council is on the same track, as is Waverley and Canterbury-Bankstown Councils. This subject came up at morning tea this weekend.  So, I consider we should look at this government decision. To help in our discussion I offer the following comments - 1. Gas burning will not destroy the planet. In fact, humans causing global warming is still a theory. The consensus of climate scientists is that nearly all the recent increase in global air temperature is naturally caused.  Even Greenpeace co-founder Patrick More said there is no proof of manmade global warming, and suggested that "alarmism" is driving politicians to create bad environmental policies. 2. Households should be able to decide for themselves on whether they want to install gas or not.  In a Capitalist Democracy the Government or Shire Council must not restrict the choice of people when it is within the law. 3. The ABC reported the Victorian government "wants to phase out gas because of the rising cost of gas bills." Why is gas cost rising? It is because our governments are limiting access to, and supply of, gas. The less of any product there is, the costlier it will be.  4. Human contribution (anthropogenic) to carbon dioxide is very low.  The respected Encyclopaedia Brittanica states "Anthropogenic emissions are equal to approximately 3% of total emissions of CO2 by natural sources." God's climate is so huge, surely, he will have the perfect checks and balances. 5. I enjoy a BBQ sausage, kebab, and steak. Is all this nonsense woke narrative going to lead to the banning of gas cylinders? We need to stand up and voice our opinions and don’t let the deceivers dictate the future.

(8/7/2023) This question came up at morning tea recently - "Is the proposed Misinformation and Disinformation Bill a good idea?" We talked about this Bill which has been on the news a lot recently.  It sounds a bit boring. But in reality, it will affect our way of life. A draft Federal Bill is threatening tech and social media companies with big fines if they fail to remove misinformation from their platforms. But I ask - who determines what is “misinformation”?
I offer these 5 points – 1. This Bill may stifle free speech. People need to express their opinions publicly without government interference. Of course, notwithstanding the law of the land. Free speech is a hallmark of Democracy. 2. It smacks of "big brother." In George Orwell's 1949 novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four" the totalitarian leader of the State is called "Big Brother." This Bill will force internet Big Tech to comply with what ACMA (Government) regards as true or false. A Government must never be an arbiter of "truth." 3. It could be a slippery slope to a dictatorship. Over a period of time, it could enable a government to use this legislation to change a society into its own ideology. Communism comes to mind. 4. Internet Tech companies may feel forced to block content that the Government doesn't like. This would be to avoid paying huge fines. 5. It could be used as a tool to destroy our Western culture. Our culture is being eroded in many ways. It is called "Cancel Culture". Once you lose the right to speak you cannot defend yourself.

(2/4/20023) Should traditional books be edited to remove any so called “offensive words”? This subject came up at Sunday morning tea recently. It seems some publishers are using “sensitivity readers” to rewrite classic fairy tales and other books, to satisfy some woke concept of what is virtuous and what is not. Books include authors Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, and stories such as Cinderella and Snow White. I make these four points – 1.  When we change the old books, we are really destroying history. These traditional stories show us how we thought, acted and spoke many years ago. This will be lost, just to satisfy the so called “purists.” 2. This rewriting of books is a part of the “political correctness” we see today. It seems we cannot offend anyone; this is different to be being offensive. An example is in Enid Blyton’s Famous Five, the word “queer” meaning unusual or strange has been removed, “brown” has been removed when referring to a person, and the title “Sir” is removed apparently because it is gender based and too subservient! 3. It is really against free speech. Our democratic western culture favours free speech; we must not lose it. Even the authors of the past must be allowed this freedom. If we put a lid on free speech, it really favours the gender benders, woke warriors, and the culture cancellers. 4. Sensitivity Readers are not experts. It is only their opinion. I think they are terrifying today’s authors into self-censorship lest they inadvertently upset readers from one minority background or another.

Some supporting biblical texts – “What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing new under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9.

“Live as a people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.” 1 Peter 2:16.

“Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; for you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things.” Matthew 16:23.

(19/2/2023) Should public servants be allowed to work on Anzac Day, and take a day off in lieu? This came up at morning tea last weekend. The Australian Government is now allowing government workers to be flexible if they wish to. I make these 5 points. 1. No, I consider the public holiday to be mandatory. No holiday off in lieu. 2. By allowing staff to work on Anzac Day in lieu, it allows some to boycott the day. There are some who wish to cancel our Australian cultural traditions (Cultural Cancellers). This option of taking a day off in lieu plays right into their hands. There is a movement called "Cancel Culture" roaming the world at present. It is a movement of people to remove any of our past culture and history. Particularly if the culture or history offends the follower. I feel that trying to destroy Anzac Day is a part of this movement. 3. Anzac Day binds the country together. It is a day that reminds us we are "one." To allow staff to work on this day, and to regard it with no significance, is destroying our “oneness.” 4. We must never take our Defence Forces for granted. This is a day to remember our Australian and New Zealand personnel; those who lost their lives, those returned, and those current, and to give them a high place in our national spirit. 5. There are of course many who have to work on Anzac Day because their business and job is essential. It stands to reason these staff can take another day off, or receive pay if they choose.

(15/1/2023) Should the voting age in Australia be reduced to 16? This subject came up at morning tea a couple of weeks ago.  It’s been in the news lately. Everybody who was present would prefer to see it remain at 18 and over. I offer these 4 comments. 1. I consider it should remain at 18. I feel the main reason various political parties support reducing it to 16, is the hope they will gain more votes at the election. 2. At 16 years of age, a person cannot vote effectively. Many say youth should have an ability to influence their government. But do they have the ability? Medical research shows that the brain is developing until the mid-twenties. In fact, because of this, we could argue in favour of increasing the age to 21 like it used to be. 3. Much social activity supports keeping it at 18. You must be 18 to get married; if you need a judge to decide your maturity at 16, why should you be allowed to vote. Youth are encouraged to remain at school to learn more until 18. You cannot get your driver licence P plate until 17. You must be 18 to buy alcohol, buy cigarettes, sit on a jury, get a credit card, sign a mortgage. 4. A voter needs to understand the nation’s political situation, the ideology of a party, and a candidate’s intentions. At 16, I’m sure we do not have this understanding. There is a difference between knowing something and understanding something. To understand something, we need to have lived a fair while in the “real world.” Young people can be “tossed about,” they can be deceived as it says “We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming.” Ephesians 4:14.

(23/10/2022) Do not celebrate Halloween as the world celebrates it. Last week over morning tea, this was a discussion, because Halloween is coming up, being the evening of Monday the 31st of October. I have a few points on this subject. 1. The word Halloween means Holy Evening. Hallo means holy, and een means evening. All Saints Day is always the 1st of November. So the night before is celebrated by much of the Christian Church as the Holy Evening. Worship and prayers are conducted on this night. 2. All Saints Day is a celebration of Christians; dead and alive, the "Communion of Saints." 3. All Saints Day is one of victory, a celebration of eternal life, and Jesus' victory over the devil and death. 4. Children "trick or treating," weird costume parties, scary games etc. are not a part of the Christian tradition. 5. See our Prayer Book on page 621 for two appropriate prayers.

Just a little more on this - Witches love Halloween, they despise Christians, and they often practice on this night; pray against this practice, we have authority in Christ to protect ourselves and others. All Christians are called Saints, all believers are Saints. The Church Triumphant are those who have died, the Church Militant are those alive.

(9/10/2022) The CEO of Essendon Football Club was forced to resign last week because he is a leader in a Christian Church. This subject came up at morning tea today. Mr Andrew Thorburn quit his role only after one day in the job. The Club Board and many other people expressed their concern that he was the Chairman of the church City on the Hill, and that the church’s values stood in contrast to that of the Club. I make these 5 points 1. I reckon the Board will be the worse off in this case. Mr Thorburn is an experienced financial man. He was educated at the Universities of Auckland and Durham, CEO of Bank of NZ, CEO of NAB, a visionary, leader, and people coach. 2. This is bad for freedom of religion. There are Christians who work for companies that may hold different views to them. This is not a reason to be sacked, or to never be employed. This is religious persecution at the utmost. 3. The position one holds in society should not limit the profession of their faith. Mr Thorburn said in a statement “Despite my own leadership record, within hours of my appointment being announced, the media and leaders of our community had spoken. They made it clear that my Christian faith and my association with a Church are unacceptable in our culture if you wish to hold a leadership position in society.” 4. As Christians, this could happen to us. What the persecutors have done to Andrew Thorburn, is what they want to do to us. When they say his values are incompatible with Essendon Football Club, they are saying our values and our voice is not welcome. 5. This situation is a double standard. The Essendon Football Club sacked a man because he had different values to the Club. The same people who objected to his employment will say that a Christian School must employ some one who has different values to the school!

Supporting texts … Jesus said, “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a cellar.” Luke 11:33.

“Therefore I am content with weakness, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10.

“The human mind may devise many plans, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will be established.” Proverbs 19:21.

(25/9/2022) Do you think the Queen’s funeral would have enabled many people to feel God more? This was asked at Adelong Parish Council through the week when we were discussing our Queen’s farewell. My answer is – yes, I think it did. Queen Elizabeth’s farewell was one of grace, faith, strength, and order. It gave the world a sense that there is something higher than our selves. 1. Never in history has so many world leaders gathered for a Christian service. Over 2,000 people, including near 500 Presidents, Prime Ministers, foreign royal families, and dignitaries, heard the Good News of Jesus. Under normal circumstances this would never happen. It was because of the Queen’s faith in God, her service to the Commonwealth, and her sincere nature, that brought Christians, atheists, and those of other faiths together. 2. Her funeral was so Christ centred. There was no compromise when it came to Jesus being “The Way, the truth, and the Life.” This was manifest in the words of the Archbishop of Canterbury in his short but powerful homily “Her Late Majesty’s broadcast during Covid lockdown ended with: ‘We will meet again’, words of hope from a song of Vera Lynn. Christian hope means certain expectation of something not yet seen. Christ rose from the dead and offers life to all, abundant life now and life with God in eternity. As the Christmas carol says ‘where meek souls will receive him, still the dear Christ enters in.’ We will all face the merciful judgement of God: we can all share the Queen’s hope which in life and death inspired her servant leadership.” 3. The cortege was full of solemnity, dignity, order, and strength. This all gave so much respect to Queen Elizabeth the Second. It is only Britain who could do such a thing.  4. The funeral service was not used to push some political ideology, and it did not separate races. The streets of London, notably The Mall, displayed only one flag, that of the Union Jack. It all showed Britain as one nation, strong, and striving for one mind. 5. Her farewell enabled people to see beyond themselves, to know that there is someone higher than themselves. Last Monday reminded people to look up, to look to God, not to human endeavours, but to the Holy Spirit of God almighty.

(28/8/2022) Golf Clubs are considering having gender free tee off points. In other words, no male or female tees. This subject came up at morning tea today. The question was – should golf clubs do this? The response was divided. I personally think the idea is ok. However, it does bring up other issues. I mention these 5 points which may help us in discussion – 1. Basic tees are coloured red, white and blue. Traditionally, red is closest to the hole, and called the “ladies,” and for those who cannot drive more than 150 yards. White is the “men’s,” for average golfers, and those who cannot drive more than 250 yards. Blue is for those who have an exceptional driving range. 2. Retain them as red, white and blue. The three tees in golf are sometimes used in the handicap system, and not used as ladies or male tees. So, there is plenty of reason to make them gender free. Or have only one tee; and have an adjusted handicap system. 3. Gender free must not be confused with gender neutral. There are people who are gender benders; this idea says that sexual identity is fluid, or even neutral. A male is different to a female; you only have to consider how we are designed. At the time of a baby’s birth, the nurse will sometimes declare “It’s a boy!” or “It’s a girl!” Celebrating male and female is what makes us human. "Male and female He created them." Genesis 1:27. 4. Having gender free tees must not encourage gender neutral games. Golf needs to have games just for ladies, and games just for men, and mixed games. 5. The gender neutral movement must be resisted. It will have consequences; such as mixed toilets, genderless sports, no mention of gender on job applications, gender neutral baby names, no women’s and men’s sections in department stores.

Genesis 1:27 “So God created humankind in his image, male and female he created them.”

(14/8/2022) The question was asked at morning tea today “Should we be closing down our coal fired electricity power stations?” I feel the answer is this; “It is fine to close them down, as long as we compensate proportionally with other forms such as gas, wind and solar.” I mention these 5 points – 1. Climate alarmism is driving the move to close them down early. Increasing global warming is still a theory. Science cannot determine how much humans contribute to global warming; the jury is still out. 2. We should have commenced building new coal stations 30 years ago to replace old ones. It has been badly managed. Australia has 19 coal fired power stations, and they will all reach their use by date between now and 2051. 3. Building wind and solar farms quickly will cost a fortune, and I mean $billions. With all ventures there is a start up cost. This debt will need to be replaced by the company and shareholders. Hence, we the consumer will pay by having higher electricity charges. 4. Unfortunately many people are obsessed with “net zero.” This stops us from building coal fired power stations as the old ones close, and as a backup to unreliable wind and solar. Coal stations can be fired up at any time, whereas renewables won’t work when the wind doesn’t blow or the sun doesn’t shine. 5. China makes a lot of wind turbines and solar panels. It also wants to invest in Australia’s renewable farms. So as not to be indebted to one country, we need to seek other ones.

Conclusion – we will probably have blackouts, and we will certainly have very higher bills.

In relation to the above, here are some scripture passages –

"Desire without knowledge is not good, and one who moves too hurriedly misses the way."  Proverbs 19:2.

"Wealth hastily gotten will dwindle, but those who gather little by little will increase it." Proverbs 13:11.

“Every kingdom divided against itself is laid to waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.” Matthew 12:25.

(31/7/2022) The question was asked at morning tea “Why is Sri Lanka in so much turmoil?” This came up because the island is in the worst economic situation since its independence and inflation is sending the cost of goods sky rocketing. I certainly don’t know all the details, but from what I can gather, I make these 6 points. 1. The nation has borrowed more money than it can pay back. It forgot the old saying “Keep money for a rainy day.” 2. The government followed the green agenda of climate alarmism. The Government put a ban on chemical fertilisers, that decimated farmers harvests. Consequently, food has been in short supply, and not sufficient to export. The nation declared itself a 100% organic farming nation. 3. It is the coal power that would supply immediate available electricity. The renewables are not doing this. Parts of the nation are having long blackouts, culminating in closed businesses, schools and institutions. It cancelled a planned coal power station. The nation has not enough money to buy coal for the existing stations. 4. The Government cut taxes in order to stimulate the economy. This meant it did not have sufficient revenue to fund the nation. It then had to draw from its monetary reserves (savings).  5. The Government listened to false secular prophets. Nobel Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz told the nation’s Economic Forum that “Your major source of energy is the sun, not oil.”  6. All this gives us lessons for the future – do not get into big debt, reject climate alarmism, our farms are the backbone of this nation, renewables need the partnership of coal, keep taxes at a reasonable level, choose advisers wisely, and ensure change is incremental.

(26/6/2022) Should the Aboriginal flag be placed on the Sydney Harbour Bridge? This topic came up at morning tea today. The Government is intending to place the flag on the harbour bridge beside the National flag. I make these 5 points. 1. Our Aboriginal people are all made in the image of God, as we all are. God does not differentiate with race, colour or creed. We are all one, and we are to love each other. 2. The needs of disadvantaged groups must be a priority. They are to be recognised, supported, educated, and healed. Many aboriginal folk fall into this category. 3. The question must be asked; why do we place the national flag on the harbour bridge? It is because we are proud of this democratic multiracial Nation, we are a strong people able to support ourselves, we regard it as the best place in the world, and we can take our place in the world scene with dignity and delight. The flag is a symbol, saying “welcome” to all the visitors who arrive in Sydney Harbour or cross the bridge. I believe that any flag, other than the official national flag, does not fit these criteria. 4. I believe it is a hollow gesture. Flying a flag on the bridge is not addressing the real issues facing aboriginal people. Our aboriginal people have high rates of family violence, child abuse, incarceration, and unemployment. 5. I reckon a powerful way in Closing the Gap would be to change the date of Australia Day. I suggest the 4th Monday in January.

Some scripture passages – “We who are strong ought to put up with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Each of us must please our neighbour for the good purpose of building up our neighbour.” Romans 15:1-2.

“Give justice to the weak and the orphan; maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 82:3-4.

“Every kingdom divided against itself is laid to waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.” Matthew 12:25.

(12/6/2022) Some folk have brought up in conversation about Net Zero when it comes to climate change. It is a popular subject again. I place here the comments of November last year. It may help us to be confident in any conversations ...

What does Net Zero Emissions really mean? This question was asked over morning tea. From what I hear it refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere. A simple example is if a factory produces x amount of gas, it needs to plant some trees that would absorb the same amount. This subject is the essence of the gabfest called COP26 in Glasgow. The conference wants countries to commit to being net zero by 2050. 1. If Australia did it immediately, we would have virtually no effect on the atmosphere. We contribute less than 1.3% of global emissions. 2. We cannot afford Net Zero on top of our current debt. A CSIRO report says Australia’s electricity system will require expenditure of one trillion dollars ($1,000 billion) to become renewable. Who will pay for this? 3. The climate is changing all the time. Our current time is just a blimp in the seasons of time. 4. I read recently that the Great Barrier Reef is in good condition, cyclones are milder, polar bears are booming, the Antarctic is cooling, the globe is greening, and islands are not sinking. 5. The UK has an energy crisis so it has re fired up two coal power stations to help the grid load. 6. I believe that renewables (including nuclear) are good but let’s don’t rush it. The old saying is "more haste less speed." Net Zero by 2050 will have suffocating regulations for farms, small business, and core industries.

(5/6/2022) Should we have an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander "Voice" sitting in parliament? This question came up at morning tea. I make these five comments - 1. Our indigenous communities must be served and helped as much as possible. Our indidgenous people are made in the image of God, as we all are, and must be loved, prayed for, and recognised whenever we can. 2. The best indigenous Voice to parliament is provided by the indigenous people who are elected to Parliament under our current system.  Our system of The House of Representitives and the Senate, elected by the people to work for the people, is the best democratic system there is. It is better to have a “voice” IN parliament, rather than a “voice” TO parliament. 3. It is race based. Over the last 50 years, we have come a long way in reducing racism, and the more we promote that we are all one is for the better. 4. A referendum would be harmful. If it is defeated it will be seen as a divisive moment for our country, and if it succeeds we will have identity politics right in the heart of our constitution. 5. In this nation we are “one.” Our national Anthem now says so. Our successful nation consists of Indigenous people,  those with a British heritage, and those who have immigrated.

(1/5/2022) Should transgender people participate in sport? This was a subject at Tarcutta morning tea today. What is transgender? Transgender people have a gender identity or expression that differs from the sex that they were assigned at birth. Many transgender people do not undergo any surgery. The majority of people do not identify as transgender, and they are called cisgender. I make 5 points. 1. Trans people are to be loved. They are a part of God’s creation, as we all are. Psalm 139:13-16. 2. A male is different to a female; you only have to consider how we are designed. At the time of a baby’s birth, the nurse will sometimes declare “It’s a boy!” or “It’s a girl!” Male and female were made for each other, to complement and procreate. Celebrating male and female is what makes us human. "Male and female He created them." Genesis 1:27. 3. Sport must be categorised by sex, not by gender identity. It’s common sense that we have until this day, segregated male and female sports. We must ensure when it comes to females playing sport, that they’re playing against people who have the same sex. 4. Males are stronger. The physiological advantages of male bodies in height, speed and strength cannot be hidden. This strength remains in a transgender male. 5. We must not let sexual identity become as fluid as tap water. Gender Benders, I’m sure, could make sexual identity so fluid that it causes problems; such as with toilets, dressing rooms, guardians of children, police searches, prisons, clothes, school uniforms, hospital wards, and so on.

(10/4/2022) Various manufacturers are now omitting the word “Easter” from their packets. I was pleased to see Cadbury placing the word on their chocolates and eggs. However, I see that many other lolly and item manufacturers are omitting the word this year. 1. This maybe “Cancel Culture” at work. This movement consists of people who wish to remove any of our past culture and history. 2. It sounds a bit like Political Correctness too. PC would consider Easter and its decorations an “offence” to a non-believer. 3. Easter is a part of our Australian custom and culture. Suppressing Easter and its decorations denies a cultural heritage that has formed the basis of our Australian society. Thank God that people, including non-believers, celebrate Easter. 4. A business that suppresses Easter is really destroying itself. Most shops make a lot of sales at Easter, and the hospitality industry enjoys increased visitors during the Easter season. 5. Easter is a message of love and hope in a world that is often full of hate, disappointment, and discouragement. Easter brings life to communities and families. Easter is about Jesus. “Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son, endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.” Hymn by E.L Budry.

(13/3/2022) Should we say our country is multiracial or multicultural? This subject has been discussed a fair bit over the last 12 months, and it came up again today at morning tea. I also saw it mentioned on TV a few days before Australia Day. I regard our nation as "multiracial" not "multicultural.” Our nation has many races of people, but it’s best we remain one culture. Four points - 1. The term multiracial is good, because it reminds us of the many different races who come to Australia. One year ago, 29.7% of our population were born overseas. And these people need a lot of help and prayer as they settle in. 2. We are a nation with many different cultures being practiced within families and gatherings, but as the new word says in our National Anthem, we are "one." We are one culture. 3. Our one culture has proved a good mix. Our culture has mainly been formed from Aboriginal, Western, Christian, and Immigration influence. 4. On the subject of one culture, Jesus said "If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand." Mark 3:24.

So, using the word multiracial instead of multicultural, places the emphasis on the wonderful people here from other countries, and how we all live in one great culture.

(27/2/2022) Goodness, the singer Adele told the Brit Awards that she loves being a woman. Shock horror! To top it off, it was Awards that are now gender neutral. She said "I understand why the name of this award has changed, but I really love being a woman and a female artist. I do." Thankfully it was followed with loud cheers. As usual it sparked outrage on the internet. Because of this situation, I place a comment on here which I posted last year -

What is happening to the names "male" and "female?" There is a lot happening. This subject came up at Tarcutta morning tea today. There are moves to take the names out of existence. This is downright wrong.  There are moves to change school uniforms, so that boys and girls all wear the same! Department stores have been encouraged to "desegregate" the aisles, axing male and female sections. Some schools overseas have banned the use of "good morning boys and girls." I make five points - 1. A male is different to a female; you only have to consider how we are designed. Male and female were made for each other, to complement and procreate. Celebrating male and female is what makes us human. "Male and female He created them." Genesis 1:27. 2. We must stand firm against this ridiculous move. It is a move by the Gender Fluidity exponents, and those wishing to destroy our traditional heritage. And also I feel to destroy our institutions of faith. They are agitating for a gender crises, when there is none. "Take up the whole armour of God, to be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, stand firm." Ephesians 6:13.  3. This move will have consequences in other ways; mixed toilets, genderless sports, no mention of gender on job applications, gender neutral baby names. 4. Don't change just for the sake of change. Why change things when the census said only 0.005% of folk are transgender in Australia. Don't fix things if they are not broken. 5. This Movement is non-conformist, counterculture, and rejects standard culture values. Much like the Beatniks of the 50's and 60's.

(6/2/2022) I was asked a couple of times over the last month, what do I reckon is a good formula for our country to run with; like what’s a few things that our government should strive for. I answered off the top of my head, but after some reflection, here are 7 points. 1. Our country would be much better off if the whole population “boasted in nothing except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Galations 6:14. 2. Always maintain small government. “If your government is big enough to give you everything you want, it is big enough to take away everything you have.” Quote attributed to Thomas Jefferson. 3. Maintain freedom of speech, religion and association. 4. Keep our achievements, culture, heritage, and institutions that have stood the test of time; much of which has been influenced by our Christion tradition. 5.  Ensure change is incremental. Change is a constant feature in any progressive society, but let’s do it in stages. This enables our country to maintain a good economy, preserve our industries, reduce unemployment, and maintain our good lifestyle. 6. Stop the universities and schools from being influenced by culture cancelers, gender benders, climate clowns, border bashers, debt drivers, and coal killers. 7. Strive for small debt. Keep the country’s financial debt low compared to our Gross Domestic Product (what our country produces in a year). 8. Greatly support small business. It is our true creator of wealth, employment and social wellbeing.

(24/12/2022) Some shops are not putting up Christmas decorations this year. I read this recently. I remember last year a few Shire Councils were not erecting their usual street decorations. This is such a sad situation. 1. This maybe “Cancel Culture” at work I think. This movement consists of people who wish to remove any of our past culture and history. 2. It sounds a bit like Political Correctness too. PC would consider Christmas decorations an “offence” to a non-believer. 3. Christmas is a part of our Australian custom and culture. Suppressing Christmas celebrations denies a cultural heritage that has formed the basis of our Australian society. Thank God that people, including non-believers, put up decorations. 4. A shop or Shire Council that suppresses Christmas is really destroying itself. Most shops make 80% of their annual sales because of Christmas, and Councils enjoy increased visitors during the Christmas season. 5. Christmas is a message of love and hope in a world that is often full of hate, disappointment, and discouragement. Christmas brings life to communities and families. Christmas is about Jesus. "Hark now hear the angels sing, a King was born today. And man will live forever more, because of Christmas Day." (The song Mary's Boy Child.)

(12/12/2021) Should Australia have exercised a Diplomatic boycott of next year’s Winter Olympics in Beijing? I think definitely not. This subject has come up over morning tea. Australia has decided not to send any government officials; however, it is pleasing to see that our own Olympic athletes are going to the Games. The reasons given to diplomatically boycott Beijing is the bad human rights of the Chinese Communist Party, coupled with crackdowns on dissent, bullying, control over Hong Kong and Taiwan, the Belt and Road debt trap, and the banning of some of our exports; this is just to name a few. I have five reasons why we should not have diplomatically boycotted the Olympics. 1. It's not in the spirit of Australia to do so; we need to show the good people of China we are humble, respectful, and a democracy in solidarity with their beleaguered state. 2. It would not be in line with the purpose of the Games, which the Charter states "The goal of the Olympic Movement is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world." 3. If the aim is to boycott China, it has failed. This event is not the China Games, it is the World Winter Olympic Games. And Beijing only happens to be the host. 4. Over the years, past boycotts have done little to "punish" any host country. 5. The CCP is big; they would consider this boycott to be a pimple on a pumpkin.

A good verse for us is "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:18.

(28/11/2021) Should the date of Australia Day be changed? This subject came up over morning tea today. I offer these five points. 1. Whatever date is chosen it is all the same in God’s time. God did create seven days in a week, but he does not work with dates. They are a human invention. “With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.” 2 Peter 3:8. (This is called “Kairos” time) 2. I suggest it be the 4th Monday in January. This falls in line with some other holidays we have, like Labour Day and the Queen’s birthday; 1st Monday of October and 2nd Monday of June respectively. It would be easy to remember. And because many people take all January as holidays, it would be the last day of their hols and they would return to work on the Tuesday. 3. The current date to me is symbolic of the country we used to be, rather than the one we hope to become. Forget about as some say “invasion day”, or Arthur Phillip, or pre-colonial history. We have moved on - we are multi racial, we are modern, it’s the 21st century. 4. The 4th Monday of January would exemplify the words in the National Anthem “In history’s page, let every stage, Advance Australia Fair.” In every page and every stage, we are “one and free.” 5. It could also be a day of thanksgiving. Not only a Christian duty, but for all people, from all walks of life, to give thanks for the blessings we receive, as we take nothing for granted. “Giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything.” Ephesians 5:20.

(14/11/2021) Should we have to show ID when we vote in elections? This subject came up over morning tea. It is a current topic, because it has been discussed in parliamentary committees, public forums, and much of the news. I consider 4 points. 1. We show ID so much these days, so why would it matter if we did the same to vote. We have to show ID at Clubs, Centre Link, book a ticket, buy cigarettes or alcohol if we look too young, join a Library, buy a car, get pulled up by Police, getting married, join a course at TAFE, buy discounted goods as a senior citizen, buy goods as an NRMA member; the list could go on and on. We now have to show proof of being vaxed! 2. It would not require a new Identity Card. Any authorised form of ID could be used. It could be a Driver Licence, Medicare or Bank Card, Photo ID, latest electricity bill, health card etc. 3. It is not discriminatory against minority groups. Goodness, nearly every living person has some form of ID. 4. Rights come with a responsibility. We have the right to vote, so let’s have a responsibility to show who we are.

(7/11/2021) What does Net Zero Emissions really mean? The old saying is "more haste less speed." Net Zero will have suffocating regulations for farms, small business, and core industries.

(23/10/2021) Do not celebrate Halloween as the world celebrates it. Last week over morning tea, this was a discussion, because Halloween is coming up, being the evening of next Sunday the 31st of October. I have a few points on this subject. 1. The word Halloween means Holy Evening. Hallo means holy, and een means evening. All Saints Day is always the 1st of November. So the night before is celebrated by much of the Christian Church as the Holy Evening. Worship and prayers are conducted on this night. 2. All Saints Day the 1st of November is a celebration of Christians; dead and alive, the "Communion of Saints." 3.

(26/9/2021) Should cricket change the term Batsman to Batter? This came up as a discussion over morning tea today. It follows the cricket web site ESPNCricinfo saying it will change the term Batsman to Batter. It also said it will change Man of the Match to Player of the Match. These new terms are gender neutral, or it is said more inclusive. Four Points – 1. This is a good thing to do. Especially when cricket is played by both male and female. We already use the words “Bowler” and “Cricketer” which are inclusive. 2. Gender neutral terms have been changing for some time now, such as “Chairperson,” “Sales Person,” “Police Officer” etc. So, this new move seems ok. 3. However, there is a word of warning – these changes should not promote Gender Fluidity. This movement is trying to take the names male and female out of existence; such as school uniforms, department store sections, and baby names to be gender neutral. 4. A male is different to a female; you only have to consider how we are designed. Male and female were made for each other, to complement and procreate. Celebrating male and female is what makes us human. "Male and female He created them." Genesis 1:27.

(18/9/2021) Nuclear power for Australia is in the news again following the welcome announcement that we are going to build nuclear submarines. So does nuclear on the water mean nuclear on the land? This is a big subject, because we must be so careful in handling any nuclear power operations. Because it is a current subject, I include here my observations from January this year - Should consideration be given to nuclear power. This topic came up over morning tea and elsewhere through the week. My response was - I would like to see Australia with some nuclear power stations. These nuclear fission stations would compliment our hydro, clean coal, and any wind and solar. The reason is five fold - 1. Australia talks a lot about increasing renewables. Instead, we should talk a lot about reducing emissions. Nuclear energy stations produce zero emissions. 2. Science and experience show it is safe. Of course, we must never let our guard down. 3. It is cheap to run. Running costs are comparable to coal and gas fired stations. 4. We have our own supply of fuel; uranium and sea water. 5. Nuclear power stations need less space. A typical nuclear plant for 1,000mw needs about 1 square mile. Solar 75 square miles, wind 360 square miles.

Just an aside - Nuclear fusion would be better than anything. Even better than nuclear fission. We are not there yet, but science is still working on it.

(8/8/2021) Should all people become Vegan? This subject was brought up at morning tea today. My answer is - NO. I make 5 points. 1. Those who advocate that vegan is the way to go, often base this on climate change. Climate Change, or Global Warming, has not fully been validated, because much science disputes it. The climate is always changing, and the checks and balances of God’s nature is powerful. 2. People need choice. It’s a part of democracy; a choice to be vegan or not. Yet I read that Lewisham Council in London is offering only vegan food at events, a meat free day in schools, and wool free insulation in Council houses. The article said Councils around the world are taking action on climate change and going vegan. 3. After mining, Australia rides on the farm back. Meat is our big export, and also our own consumption supports our economy. 4. What I consider is alarmism must cease. On the PETA UK site it says “ ….. eating animals has near-apocalyptic consequences.” Exaggerations destroy our ability to make decisions for the future. 5. I like meat; what would I do if there was none? Certainly not eat Hungry Jacks plant based "ham" burgers!

(1/8/2021) Should people have protest marches during lockdowns? This was a topic at morning tea last Sunday. My answer is "No." I make 4 points 1. They are breaking the law. In a democracy it is a right to have a peaceful protest march when people disagree with a government policy. But in this case, the law of lockdown is supposedly to stop the virus spreading. 2. There is more chance the virus is spread. With thousands at the march, it means more people sharing cars, more on public transport, and more closely assembling. 3. People must be allowed to protest. Our lockdowns are not in proportion to the threat. It is like destroying a flea with a sledge hammer. Instead of a street march, surely there are other ways to protest about this dis proportionate response. 4. Pray. Pray that people will not feel the need to street protest, pray for peace upon us all in this stressful time, and pray for leaders to ensure that the lockdowns are proportionate.

(4/7/2021) Is the Covid Virus mild? Let’s look at this – the stats today, the 4th of July show that out of all the cases currently in the world 99.6% are mild. In Australia today 99.8% are mild. So, is it a mild virus? I think from these figures, we would have to conclude it is a mild virus. We have had various lockdowns for 16 months. We have had time to learn about this virus. If our leaders don’t have some plan, we will be trying to eliminate it still in 100 years’ time; lockdowns on, lockdowns off, lockdowns on and so on. I make these four points – 1. Singapore has decided to live with the virus just like the Flu’. No goals of zero transmission, no more announcements of daily case numbers, close contacts of cases will not have to isolate, no more lockdowns, continue with hygiene rules, and other restrictions, and by August the 9th they plan to have 75% of the population vaccinated. 2. On the 9th of September last year, in this email I commented – “Lockdowns are not the answer. This is the opinion of Professor Michael Levitt, Nobel Prize Winner, from Oxford University. He is quoted as saying ‘Lockdowns are a huge mistake. I think lockdown is very, very crude and should not have been used in this century.’ He considers social distancing, sanitizing, washing of hands, and protecting the elderly is sufficient. Professor of Epidemiology Sunetra Gupta, also from Oxford, ‘Urged Australia to abandon its selfish and self-congratulatory lockdown tactics.’ I agree.” 3. I’m no Doctor, but I do feel that we can now learn to live with it. 4. It may be time now to have a National response, rather than a State response.

(6/6/2021) What is happening to the names "male" and "female?" There is a lot happening. This subject came up at Tarcutta morning tea today. There are moves to take the names out of existence. This is down right wrong. And also I feel to destroy our institutions of faith They are agitating for a gender crises, when there is none. "Take up the whole armor of God, to be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, stand firm." Ephesians 6:13.

(23/5/2021) A representative of PETA said on radio the other day "We are not anti farmer" but she objected to the mice being poisoned. She went on to say "It's so unfair these mice are going to suffer these horrible deaths." Dear me, those poor little mice. Don't worry that our nations food bowl is going to be devastated! And don't worry about the farmers plight, which for some this plague is the straw that broke the camel's back. This was a discussion over morning tea today. I make 5 points 1. It was an insensitive statement. This plague is of massive proportions, and our farmers are facing an uphill battle. It is affecting their body, mind and spirit. 2. Humans have dominion over the animals - God said "And let them have dominion over all the wild animals of the earth." Genesis 1:28. 3. Poison is the solution. The alternative is to catch the mice and let them go somewhere else, which is ludicrous. 4. Our prayers are to be constantly with the farmers. We pray that they are protected through this plague, financially, physically, and given peace of mind, with a great hope for the outcome of their farms and produce. "I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me, hear my words." Psalm 17:6. 5. Thankfully, Aleesha Naxakis from PETA has said her comments were misconstrued, and she said "They shouldn't be left to run around and destroy crops, at the detriment and mental health of the farmers.

(16/5/2021) There is a new proposal for our national school curriculum. This came up at morning tea last week. The question was "Are the proposals good?" I say that yes most are good, but there are some I am concerned about. I saw the proposal on the internet, and it's a lot to read. In fact the subject is so big for me that I need advice from the experts! But I make these 4 points - 1. Our teachers "deserve a medal" as we say, because it's more than just a job. Our school teachers have a big responsibility. I would not like to be one. Just teaching a few classes of Scripture in School for half a day a week used to be enough for me.  Young people are the country's future, and teachers educate the students for their place in the modern world. "Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray." Proverbs 22:6. 2. The five year review should be maintained. This is because the world is changing so fast. The curriculum is reviewed every five years by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority. 3. Christianity must still have a reference in the curriculum. The review 5 years ago said students are to learn "How Australia is a secular nation and a multi-faith society with a Christian heritage." This review says students now should learn "How Australia is a culturally diverse, multi-faith, secular and pluralistic society with diverse communities, such as the distinct communities of First Nations Australians." 4. Our Western Heritage must still have a reference in the curriculum. I read that the review removes the references to the freedoms given to us through the values and institutions of Western Civilisation. 5. If anyone would like to give feedback on the review, you can do so at this link -https://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/consultation/

(17/4/2021) Should wild horses be culled in our National Parks? This subject has come up in discussion recently. Well, I think they should be culled. The estimate by the Alps Liaison Committee says there were 25,318 brumbies in 2019. So I offer these five points - 1. Man has dominion over the animals, and can decide their future. This is in Genesis 1:26, where we see dominion "over all the wild animals of the earth." Also we refer to Psalm 8. 2. With authority to rule, comes the responsibility to rule justly. The horses can be culled, and in doing so it must be done in a just and humane manner. We are stewards or caretakers of God's creation. "It is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy." 1 Corinthians 4:2. 3. The brumbies are not native. They are an introduced animal. They are called "feral." Because they are feral, they come well down the line of "protected" animals. 4. Aerial culling (helicopter shooting) is fast, effective, and humane. In a study it showed 63% died instantly, and 37% died within 19 seconds. 5. Other methods must be maintained too. Such as re homing, fertility control, trapping, and mustering.

(28/3/2021) Should politics, business, and organisations implement Gender Quotas? This subject came up over morning tea today. My answer is No. Just as a little clarification, to put it simply, it means 50% male and 50% female in a group or committee. I make 4 points - 1. The best individual should get the position. This is based on merit, independent of the gender. I consider the 3 A's - Are they available for the position, are they considered able to do the work, and are they considered action oriented i.e.; initiate ideas and then action them. 2. Male and female are equal in God's eyes. Their physical makeup is different, and certain jobs are more suited to either a male or female. But it says "God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." Genesis 1:27. Nowhere does scripture imply that men and women are unequal. They may have different roles in the home and church, but different roles do not indicate differing worth. 3. It is unfair. If a man and a woman apply for a position, and gender quotas are fulfilled, the more qualified may miss out. 4. It can increase a level of frustration. People may feel their quality of work does not play an important role, but that gender determines their chances for promotion or position.

(14/3/2021) Should agriculture be exempt from the 2050 net-zero emissions target? Yes, I think it should be. Especially when it comes to cattle, sheep and goats. This subject was brought up at morning tea today at Adelong. The Federal Govt has pledged a target of net-zero carbon emissions sometime after 2050. Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary industries are to be involved. I make 5 points -  1. Cattle, sheep and goats should not be included in this target as many experts suggest they should be. Animals do not produce "manmade emissions." If we include farm animals, does this mean we must include the ones in the zoo, or the horses on the track, or our pet dogs? 2. Cattle, sheep and goats are "ruminants." The food stays in the rumen, ready to eat later, and decomposes so produces methane. There are estimated to be about 200 species of ruminants in God's creation. Are the farm ruminants really going to make much difference in God's scheme of things? 3. Climate change alarmists say that fossil fuels are to blame. If this is the case, it is a shame that cattle emissions have been roped into the debate. 4. Farm animals are a part of God's creation. He made them, and saw that it was good. (Genesis 1:24-25). God will always make sure there is a balance in his eco system. 5. I like meat; what would I do if there was none? Certainly not eat Hungry Jacks plant based "ham" burgers!

(7/3/2021) Our Defence Force boss advised first year cadets on how to keep safe from sexual predators. Should he have done this? My opinion is - yes he should have. This subject was in discussion over morning tea today at Tarcutta. General Angus Campbell warned recruits about the four A's - Alcohol, Alone, Attractive, and being out After midnight. He was helping cadets stay safe. His comments caused a bit of outrage in many circles. He would have been better to phrase his warning a little differently; but what he said was good advice. His critics mainly argued that his comments were excusing any perpetrator. I make 4 points. 1. Even though perpetrators are to blame, it does not stop us from being wise and aware. 2. In a different example, even though perpetrators are to blame if they rob our house, we still lock it when away. 3. There are dreadful people out there in the wide world, and it is good to remind ourselves, and to especially remind our young people, on how to take precautions. 4. God's Word always has a message for us - Jesus said "See, I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves." Matthew 10:16. "The clever see danger and take refuge, but the naïve keep going and pay the penalty." Proverbs 22:3.

If anyone is experiencing abuse, don't go it alone, speak to someone. Also Lifeline number is 13 11 14.

(28/2/2021) Should Australia boycott next year’s Chinese Winter Olympics? No, definitely not. This subject has come up over morning tea in the last two weeks. The reasons given to boycott Beijing is the bad human rights of the Chinese Communist Party, crackdowns on dissent, bullying, control over Hong Kong and Taiwan, the Belt and Road debt trap, and the banning of some of our exports; this is just to name a few. However, I have five reasons why we should NOT boycott the Olympics. Our Australian athletes have been preparing for a few years, and next year’s Games have been a young person's aspiration. A boycott would mean wasted effort and smashed dreams. 4. Over the years, past boycotts have done little to "punish" any host country. 5. The CCP is big; they would consider the boycott to be a pimple on a pumpkin.

A good verse for us is "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:18.

(21/2/2021) ANU researchers have suggested ditching the words "mother" and "father.' In some instances they say it will be more gender inclusive. I say we must retain the words “mother” and “father” in traditional families. The Australian National University researcher's new handbook recommends the change. When it comes to childbirth, the handbook suggests changing the term "mother" to "gestational" or "birthing parent" and changing "father" to "non-gestational" or "non-birthing parent." I also read that a UK hospital issued instructions to midwives to stop using the term "breastfeeding" and use "chestfeeding." Recently, Barnardos made the decision to scrap their award "Mother of the Year" saying it did not represent diverse families. It all seems comical; but it is true! What kind of a world are our young people growing up in? No matter what designations we give to diverse families, in traditional families the words mother and father should remain. We have seen this with marriage papers, where the main heading deleted Bridegroom and Bride, and became Party 1 and Party 2. I can see in the future that Mother's Day and Father's Day may be cancelled. Much of this new Identity Politics needs to be challenged.

(7/2/2021) Should Margaret Court have received the Australia Day award? Of course she should have. Amidst controversy, she received the award of Companion of the Order of Australia. I make 4 points - 1. Some people have been opposed to Margaret receiving it because she has received an award before. The previous award was an AO mainly for her services to the community establishing a food charity supplying 25 tones a week. This new award of AC is different; it is for her magnificent sporting achievements. 2. Some people say that because she opposes same sex marriage, she should not have received the award. Same sex marriage is not biblical. Margaret is sticking to her belief as a Pastor. Her stand is freedom of religion.  3. She also has the right to state her views on any subject. Her stand is freedom of speech. 4. Her opponents are practicing "Identity Politics." This is where people groups tend to promote their own interests (identity), without loving or regarding the interests of other groups. They will try to silence, and even destroy.

Scripture comes to mind when we see Identity Politics as of above. Jesus taught "You have heard that it was said 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth' and 'You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." Matthew 5:38, 43-44. And one of Jesus' statements on the sermon on the mount is "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." Matthew 5:9.

(24/1/2021) Cricket Australia has done it again ! As part of it's Big Bash League promotions, CA is not referring to the 26th of January as Australia Day. This seems like the "Cancel Culture" I spoke about weeks ago. Australia Day is a day when we give God thanks for this wonderful, peaceful, democratic country that we live in; it is a glorious day as we celebrate we are "one." Irrespective of the controversial date, it is a day when everyone should not be signaling their virtues. This signaling comes days after Australia lost the test to India 2-1, and that was without Kohli. I know it's a cliché, but please, baggy greens, "stick to cricket, not culture wars." There are other times to voice objections to the 26th.

There are certainly reasons to change the date of Australia Day. I suggest the first Monday in February; it would be easy to remember, and it would give us a long weekend. Every date is the same as the other - "But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day." 2 Peter 3:8.

(18/1/2021) Should we say our country is multiracial or multicultural? I was asked to say something on this following my comments two weeks ago. I said "I regard our nation as "multiracial" not "multicultural. Our nation has many races of people, but we must remain one culture."

Four points -  1. The term multiracial is good, because it reminds us of the many different people who come to Australia. They need a lot of help and prayer as they settle in. One year ago, 29.7% of our population were born overseas. 2. We are a nation with many different cultures being practiced within families and gatherings, but as the new word says in our National Anthem, we are "one." 3. Our one culture has been mainly formed from Aboriginal, Western, Christian, and Immigration influence. It has proved a good mix. 4. On the subject of one culture, Jesus said "If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand." Mark 3:24.

So, using the word multiracial instead of multicultural, places the emphasis on the wonderful people here from other countries, and how we all live in one great culture.

(10/1/2021) We should give consideration to nuclear power. This topic came up over morning tea and elsewhere through the week. My response was - I would like to see Australia with some nuclear power stations. These nuclear fission stations would compliment our hydro, clean coal, and any wind and solar. My reason is five fold - 1. Australia talks a lot about increasing renewables. Instead, we should talk a lot about reducing emissions. Nuclear energy stations produce zero emissions. 2. Science and experience show it is safe. Of course we must never let our guard down.

(3/1/2021) Our Australian National Anthem has been changed. It came into effect on New Years Day. Should this change have been made? Yes, I think it should have. The lyrics have been changed from "young and free" to "one and free." This subject has come up a lot recently over morning tea. My thoughts are three fold - 1. We are not a young country, we are old. The word change recognizes the occupation of this land for over 60,000 years. 2. We are "one." Our country is very multiracial; we have our indigenous people, and those who have been born here, and those born overseas. 3. We are the only continent on the earth that is occupied by just one nation. We are definitely "one."

Some who oppose the change say that we are "young." This is because our country was federated in 1901, and before that we were a series of colonies. They say we are an "old" country but a "young" nation.

A personal explanation - I regard our nation as "multiracial" not "multicultural". Our nation has many races of people, but we must remain one culture.

(13/12/2020)  "Do You think that Shire Councils should put up Christmas Decorations?" I was asked this question last week. My answer is "Yes they should." In fact, I heard that some Shire Councils around Australia are not putting up Christmas decorations. I'm not sure why they considered to have no decorations, but probably because it "may offend" someone. I don't know who it may offend. It sounds a bit of political correctness to me, or even the trend at the moment of "Cancel Culture." Christmas is a part of our Australian culture and custom. Suppressing Christmas celebrations denies a cultural heritage that has formed the basis of our Australian society. Even non-believers put up Christmas decorations; you only have to see so many front yards with lights. Nearly every shop in Wagga, Tarcutta and Adelong have decorations. Thank God that our own local Shires promote Christmas in many ways.

(6/12/2020) Over morning tea, this subject keeps coming up; what should we do about our trade with China? It was mentioned at Tarcutta today. Should we reduce our trade with China - you know, considering it's one of the most oppressive regimes in the world? I don't know for sure, but I reckon about 80% of household items and clothes are made in China. You only have to look at the labels in shops such as the Reject Shop and Lowes. We can thank God that much of our household goods are not too expensive. Firstly, I don't think we should reduce our imports or exports with China too hastily. This does not stop us of course looking for other partners such as India. China is our biggest trading partner. Millions of our people are employed on farms, in mining, in businesses, and in government because we import and export with China. We must keep a balance between our relationship with China on one hand, and our economy on the other. Secondly, let us always remind the Chinese Communist Party regime of our Australian democratic values - freedom of religion, life, work, and speech, the common good, justice for all, elected parliament, and of our own interests and priorities as an independent nation.

For the sake of the good Chinese people over there, and in Australia, we need to keep a good relationship.

(29/11/2020) Should the CEO of Australia Post be allowed to reward executives for effective work? ... This question came up twice last week over morning tea; so it's a subject that's important to many. The CEO Christine Holgate had every right to reward the four executives a total of $20,000. She has the freedom to do this, and apparently the Board Chair recommended it. Tax payer money was not used, as Australia Post is a self funding commercial company, although its shareholder is the Commonwealth Government. I have worked in business for over 27 years, most at a senior level, and this reward is not uncommon; in many respects this Aus Post reward for effective service is a storm in tea cup. Executive salary packages usually consist of four things - base salary, bonuses, shares and then other encouragement plans. These things are incentives for the employees to take risky profit increasing activities. When done in a righteous manner they benefit shareholders, employees, Licensees and customers alike.

We are reminded of Paul's first letter to Timothy chapter 5. "You shall not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The laborer deserves to be paid." These words were related to ministry, but nevertheless they apply to any reward situation. And whatever is done, it must be righteous. Jesus said "But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

(22/11/2020) It's on again! Sporting bodies supporting the Black Lives Matter movement .. now our wonderful baggy greens are into it. Cricket Australia is having our Test players stand bare foot in support. The act is not going to affect a single aboriginal's life, or do anything for racism. BLM is a foreign Marxist organization that uses it's agenda to hide it's real objectives. Businesses and sporting bodies are so blind when they resort to political correctness of this kind.

It is a good idea to be reminded of some of my previous comments ... see below on Black Lives Matter …

(7/11/2020) Have you heard about "Cancel Culture"? Well I agree with many; "Cancel Culture" should be cancelled. This subject came up at morning tea last Friday in Adelong. What is "Cancel Culture"? It is a movement of people to remove any of our past culture and history. Particularly if the culture or history offends the follower. Tearing down statues is a prime example. So is Netflix by taking down the movie "Gone with the Wind" or the BBC removing an episode of "Fawlty Towers."

What next? - in the future we may see that movies, books, or museums have a sign that says "Warning - some things may offend" or see YouTube take down clips of Al Jolson, or the awesome hymn Amazing Grace not allowed because it was written by a former slave trader. Over the years people have done and said the wrong thing, or offended others; but we cannot sanitise the past. We must never tolerate bad behavior, it must be dealt with. We must never be a doormat. We all need to forgive and forget. Let's cancel Cancel Culture.

"I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins." Isaiah 43:25. As Christians we celebrate the forgiveness of God, through the cross of Jesus.

(1/11/2020) Should we sing the National Anthem at the football? Definitely we should. The NRL decided to scrap the Anthem at the three Origin games coming up. However, on Thursday afternoon it changed the decision. The National Anthem will be played at each game before kickoff. This is pleasing to see. Advance Australia Fair is our official song; it can be played on any occasion. The national Anthem binds us as a nation. It is meant to be a symbol of unity. We don't strengthen this democratic nation when we apologise for it. We also don't strengthen this nation when we refuse to sing it.

Just a note on this - the original anthem had four verses. We now sing the first two, or often just the first. What we sing now has had some changes made. There is room to make more changes too.

(24/10/2020) Do not celebrate Halloween as the world celebrates it. Last week over morning tea, this was a discussion, because Halloween is coming up, being the evening of this Saturday the 31st of October.

(10/10/2020) I am leaving this comment up for this week too - The Chinese Belt and Road Initiative - this came up in morning tea last week; do we agree with it? The initiative is a China Communist Party financial infrastructure program that is intended to link China with more than 100 countries through rail, shipping, road and energy projects. Basically China will lend money to countries for their projects. Some people say it will lift developing nations out of poverty. But I say it is part of the regimes desire to dominate and control those countries. Plus we know what happens when a loan can't be paid off; the lender takes over the project! It is really making more countries reliant on the Chinese Communist Party. I say don't fall for the trap. Someone once coined the phrase "Don't sell your soul to the devil."

For the sake of the good Chinese people, we must remain friends with China, and continue our large trade. But we need to heed the words of Jesus "I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves." Matthew 10:16.

(19/9/2020) Lockdowns are not the answer. This is the opinion of Professor Michael Levitt, Nobel Prize Winner, from Oxford University. He is quoted as saying "Lockdowns are a huge mistake" and also "I think lockdown is very, very crude and should not have been used in this century." He considers social distancing, sanitizing, washing of hands, and protecting the elderly is sufficient. Professor of Epidemiology Sunetra Gupta, also from Oxford, "Urged Australia to abandon it's selfish and self-congratulatory lockdown tactics."

This subject is always in discussion among us in our Parishes.

I agree with the Professors. It is a mild virus; we are attacking it like a sledgehammer to a few ants; a deception.

Two links to the Professors are on the bottom of this email.

(12/9/2020) I bought some toner for the Parish photocopier made by Samsung - where was it made? You guessed it; made in China! This is another "morning tea" topic lately. Should we reduce our trade with China - you know, considering it's one of the most oppressive regimes in the world? I don't know for sure, but I reckon about 80% of household items are made in China. You only have to look at the labels in a shop such as the Reject Shop. We can thank God that much of our household goods are not too expensive. Firstly, I don't think we should reduce our imports or exports with China.  Let's keep our trade as it is. This does not stop us of course looking for other partners such as India. China is our biggest trading partner. Secondly, let us always remind the Chinese Communist Party regime of our Australian democratic values - freedom of religion, life, work, and speech, the common good, justice for all, elected parliament, and of our own interests and priorities as an independent nation.

Also, I had to buy a new Samsung phone. You may be pleased - Samsung has opened the biggest Mobile Phone factory in the world. Where is it? - It's in India !!

(30/8/2020) I have been asked to place again on this email my words on the borders. Should we have closed our State Borders? This conversation has arisen many times over Sunday morning tea. I can remember our Prime Minister saying back in April or March something like this "The National Cabinet has never agreed that borders should be closed. There was no medical advice at any time to say close the State borders." I agree. Closing our State borders seems now to create more problems than it solves. We are an island country. Surely we could have effectively controlled the mild virus with national restrictions rather than State ones.

(10/8/2020) It seems world authorities do not know whether masks are effective or not. I feel these words from the World Health Organisation (WHO) to be considered - "At the present time, the widespread use of masks everywhere is not supported by high quality scientific evidence. There are potential benefits and harms to consider. However, where physical distancing is not possible, a non medical or fabric mask could be helpful to provide a barrier from someone who is infected. Non medical or fabric masks could increase the potential for Covid19 to infect a person if the mask is contaminated by dirty hands and touched often, or kept on other parts of the face or head, and then placed back over the face and nose."

The NSW Government recommends masks "where physical distancing is hard to maintain, such as public transport or supermarkets."

I will not be using a mask when I am leading a Worship service. I suggest our other Worship leaders do the same.

Here is a link to the WHO page on masks ---

(26/7/2020) Last week I was asked what is "The Common Good." Today I was asked it again, after we worshipped in Adelong. So I thought it might be a good subject to discuss. A Prayer Book prayer says "Help us Lord to commit ourselves to the common good that our land may be a secure home for all it's peoples." It's on page 203 of our Prayer Book we use in worship. A useful saying is "sacrificing for the good of the whole." I think that really explains The Common Good. We live in a society that has encouraged many to "look out for number 1." Looking out for number 1 is clearly not "sacrificing."

In my view, tearing down statues is not working for the Common Good. Taking down movies from internet sites such as one like "Gone With The Wind," is not working for the common good. Neither is screaming and drowning out a speaker because we do not agree with what the speaker stands for Again, having a different set of rules for the current street protesters, is not working for the Common Good. The majority of us are trying to keep the proper Covid19 restrictions, while the protesters are let get away with breaking the law. If we have a grievance, or feel a victim, or claim racial injustice, let us behave ourselves. "Lord God, help us to commit to the common good so that our land will be a safe place, with justice, liberty and democracy for all."

(13/7/2020) I have been asked to still leave up my comments on the "Black Lives Matter" movement. Well first, black lives do matter; that is why the movement came into existence. The movement of BLM is trying to let the world know that very fact "that black lives do matter." Black people are equally created in the image of God. In God's eyes whites, blacks, browns, or any other colour, are equal. The BLM movement is right in speaking out against racism; it is evil. The violent protests have been bad though, as the movement is used for other purposes. What is troubling to me though, is the fact that BLM support the LGBTQ agenda. BLM also says that it supports other family units other than the nuclear family. The nuclear family is of course a unit of mother, father and children; a biblical and Western value. These BLM views are not biblical views. Jesus is the only answer for racism. Racism is sin. Only in Christ can racial reconciliation be found. Here is a informative article to read at this link --- https://www.gotquestions.org/black-lives-matter.html

(13/6/2020) We could not gather for Anzac Day, yet street protests were allowed last weekend. The protests in the streets of Australia are not warranted. We must pray for peace in Australia, especially with these street protests. Protests are being organised now with regard to refugees too. It is also wrong to draw a parallel between the social grievances of well meaning African Americans, and the push for recognition of our Australian indigenous  people. And especially during these Covid19 restrictions. We must keep it in our prayers.

During this time of the lockdown it can be stressful for us all. People are out of work, and many businesses are closed as we know. For those who decide that their business will not reopen, they will be going through much grief and hardship. For all of us, it will be such a relief when it's all over.

(6/6/2020) The protests in the streets of Australia are not warranted. We must pray for peace in Australia, especially now with street protests being organised. It is wrong to draw a parallel between the social grievances of well-meaning African Americans, and the push for recognition of our Australian indigenous people. And especially during these Covid19 restrictions. We must keep it in our prayers.
